Talk from February 4, 2024

Good Morning Everyone!

Today’s reading is taken from The Joseph Communications:  From Here to Infinity by Michael G. Reccia:

“So the radiating soul – the ascending soul – makes a hymn of their life, makes a miracle of their life and makes a glorification of God manifest in their life in the way that they treat others.  And slowly, ever so slowly, as you send out the meditations and the Light, you will find that you too are changing because you cannot elevate others without elevating yourself.”

I attended the Spiritualist Church of the Light first in 2013, then returned in 2015.  I have been a regular here since that time.  There were a number of things that attracted me to our church and encourage me to stay.  We are a small community but we are mighty.  When I come here, I am not just a face in the crowd, my presence is important here as is yours.

So here we are, February 4.  This time of year tends to be cold and gray although we have been enjoying some spring like weather.  Wiarton Willie, our Canadian weather forecaster groundhog based in Wiarton, Ontario just gave us the nod for an early spring.  In this spirit of new beginnings, I thought it would be a good time for us to reflect on our Opening Prayer which begins each of our services and is full of love, light and positivity.  We start with a statement of gratitude and affirmation of the gifts we are given by our Creator.

“Oh Creator of All, permeating the entire Universe…Honour and Glory to You.  Your Divine Love pervades, is within and blesses all, your natural law guides on the physical and spiritual planes, Your Grace and Spiritual energy sustain us, abundance prevails.”

These words are a prayer, a meditation, and a reminder that I am one with my Creator, sustained and blessed, as are you.  Creator has many names but is the same Creator of All and we are part of our Creator.

The last part of the opening prayer states:

“All life is growth, so we judge not ourselves or others.  Lead us on our paths, inspire us, and heal us with your White Light.  Life and Love are continuous for all is God and Perfection.”

Creator wants us to learn through our life experiences and to be aware of our thoughts about them.  If I hold on to regret for my past actions or omissions, that limits my ability to radiate joy and light into this world.  Regret weighs me down, makes it harder for me to fly, makes it harder for me to see the beauty in my world and my life.  If it is hard for me to see the beauty in my life, it is hard for me to see the beauty in your life in a way that is healthy and uplifting for you.  So too, with judgement.  My judging you confines you, limits your ability to grow, change and radiate light into our world.

When I read our Opening Prayer I see Love.  I see the “Divine Love from Creator God which pervades, is within and blesses all”.  I see “Life and Love are continuous.”

I often tell people that when our loved ones leave their earthly bodies, love continues, never dies and is eternal.  Love maintains the connection between those who have left and us remaining. Love defines our lives, gives us direction, gives us purpose.

Our Opening Prayer speaks “All life is growth.”  I am here to learn and to explore.  I am here to make peace with the hard things I have experienced in my earlier years.  I am here to learn forgiveness for myself and others.  I am here to lighten my load so that I can live my life with joy as a clear channel for Creator’s light into this dimension.

Our Opening Prayer includes our request to Creator, “Heal us with your White Light”.

Michael G. Reccia’s book, From Here to Infinity talks about the importance of using Light as a tool for healing, both for self and others.  He wrote, “We choose to revisit those memories that cause us harm and we revisit them habitually almost.  We choose to revisit them because there is almost a comfort in revisiting something we are familiar with.  But what you have to avoid is the jagged angles of those experiences harming you, and re-energizing them and taking them forward into new experiences with you as a viewpoint of the world.”

“As you revisit experiences, and in your meditation, as you seek out those memories, bathe them in Light – bathe every aspect of those memories in Light.  As an example, if you had an altercation with someone and revisit that point of your experience, you bathe yourself in Light, you bathe the person you had an altercation with in Light and bathe the memory of the location, the feelings and every aspect of that memory in Light.  You then take away the negative aspects of it.”

Now going back to our Opening Prayer, “Lead us on our paths, inspire us.”  I am here to find my path, to find the teachers who help me learn and grow.  I learn from people I have had relationships with for many years.  I learn from people I have only met briefly.  I learn from books, meditations, classes and being part of this community. I learn from my life experiences and relationships.  My path is my own.  No two paths are exactly the same… and that is absolutely okay.  We each have free will to create our path.

When I sat down to write today’s message, I picked up our Hymn book and a small piece of paper fell out with my writing on it.  I had written, “Does it bring me peace?  Does it help me pray or distract me?  If it makes prayer difficult or causes unrest, it is not of God’s purpose for my life.”  At the bottom of the paper I had written, Home with God by Neale Donald Walsh.  I had also written “Spirit continues until we complete the purpose of our creation, then we enter the fullness of life with God.”  Somehow that little piece of paper was waiting in the Hymn book for exactly today’s message, the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae.

I leave you with what was printed on the other side of that small piece of paper, a page from a calendar with a message from St. Mother Theresa.  “It doesn’t take much- it can be just giving a smile.  The world would be a much better place if everyone smiled more.”  A simple smile… a small but wonderful way to radiate light into our world.

Thank you all for joining us here today.  May Creator God bless you and surround you with  love always in your life journey.

I wish to thank to my guides for the help I received with this talk.
