Hello Folks! Good News is on the horizon! Church will be starting again on Sunday March 6th, 10:30 a.m., usual time. As well to our students, classes are picking up again on Thursday March 3rd 7:00 p.m. All procedures as mandated by Manitoba Health are in place for our safety, and those of our guests.

So! With the news worse than ever, it is hard to separate the “wheat from the chaff “ so to speak. Misinformation, disinformation abound and it is sad to see what is happening in our country. Especially now in Ottawa and other Canadian cities. We have a saying that may help you discern what is and what isn’t.

“Wide acceptance of an idea is not proof of it’s validity”

We have said this one before, however it seems it is taking on more importance as the Covid pandemic rears its ugly head again. Remember, Spiritualism is the Science, Religion, and Philosophy of continuous life. Science is the first word in this brief message of Spiritualism. Good scientific proof and good scientific facts will prevail, and the science of the proof for this pandemic is evident, throughout the world. We are given the facts of what it takes to beat this terrible and deadly virus.

On a positive note, vaccines are free to all, the unfortunate negative note is even though the science dictates the positive, some folks are hept up on their freedom of choice for themselves, not thinking of the freedom to live, to life, which must be acknowledged here. The freedom to access medical help. The freedom to access what is needed for their health and a human beings right to live.

To the the silent majority, please keep in mind the Canadians who are in need of help, of medical assistance, treatments and not receiving it. The help being postponed, due to those who worry about their freedoms. What about the right to life? What about the right to receive that help.

As Spiritualists we know that “thoughts are things.” So when we get down about the anti-vaxxers, Ottawa being in the throws of “occupation,” just remember to send out to the hurting world, your positive, caring and loving thoughts……to all! God Bless!

Hello Folks! In talking with a member of our Church, she had mentioned when she has difficulty sleeping, she will look at our Website Messages and it helps.

You know, we hadn’t stopped to think of how people read what we post. We were just hoping the site would be read and folks inspired or comforted by it. The Website was a great idea and we have our Board Member, Joanna Seys to thank, for doing the mechanics of posting and keeping up the site. We personally haven’t exactly mastered any high tech or 21st century technology and that boat moves very slowly at home. (Haha)

Now…. here’s a quote for you!

“Wide acceptance of an idea is not proof of it’s validity”

Walking around for a whole day repeating it and placing situations within this quote was revealing to say the least! The one situation which kept on popping up was the concept of the kernel of truth about Spiritualism. We say, “Spiritualism is the Science, Religion and Philosophy of Continuous Life.” This is, of course the wide acceptance of Spiritualists world wide. It was uplifting to see how the proof of the validity of Spiritualism was shown. The philosophy and religion of Spiritualism has been proven by the science of Spiritualism.

It would also be good to place any ideas you have, that you have put on a shelf for future inspiration…and maybe apply that quote to see if it brings up a few nuggets to flesh out an idea you may have had. January and the newness of 2022 can bring forward many ideas for home, business, education and such. What exactly is the validity of the idea you have?

We look forward to the next 11 months to nurture new ideas, realizing the validity of those ideas gives ways to think over, ponder, and reflect. We know for sure, some of those ideas will be instrumental for enriching your life, if you choose to do so. (physically, spiritually and emotionally) Know that we think of you all and send you great thoughts, Healing and Spirit Blessings. Enjoy your Sunday! God Bless.

Hello Folks! Now that we are half way through the month of January, we hope this finds you well, hopeful for a change with regards to Covid-19, and not too discouraged if you’ve had difficulty keeping any resolutions you may have made on New Years Eve/Day.

This message is for folks who can’t keep up the high standards they may have placed on themselves, and also those who have had 16 days of success and don’t know how long they can keep it up! We want you to take note of a system that may give you an alternative to trying, trying and trying some more.

Dr. Daniel Amen is an author who specializes in all things brain related. Knowledge is always key no matter what you attempt in life. He mentions two impulses to be mindful of.

.Anits (automatic negative thoughts)
.Monkey Brain (your brain going off “crazy”in all directions)

Since we have a tendency to do things in 3’s, the third point is our own, with inspiration from our retired family physician.

Ants….you just know what they can do to a picnic or a day at the beach or park. Small and unassuming until they are recognized way too late and are having a party at our expense.

To replace the A.N.T.S, change it. Replace the ants with positive thoughts and with a strong sense of purpose, just like you would do to them at a picnic. Get rid of them by heading them off, thinking other thoughts and make them positive. Envision them marching two by two right out of your brain! There are many positives in life you can bring forward. Don’t give into those ants. Remember you are in charge, and you are in charge of change.

Monkey Brain…..well who hasn’t had their thought process go right off the scale and you weren’t even thinking that crazy thought in the first place! Just like that, you starting thinking of something completely different and next thing you know you have Monkey Brain and you just can’t control it. The more you try, the worse it gets and you are left feeling exhausted and mad at yourself. Sooooo…what to do with Monkey Brain! Live in the moment. Bring yourself back to the present. Stop, literally and even physically! Look at where you. are, at home, in the car, having a shower, walking the dog, petting the cat, talking on the phone, watching T.V., on the cell phone or computer. Just stop where you are and bring yourself back to the present. Remember to tell those monkey’s whose brain it is and send them off.

Now, the third item we want you to mindful of will make your resolutions so much easier, and ease the guilt you may place on yourself. Remember….the good things you do….do more of them.
…the bad things you do……do less of them.

Have a great Sunday! Whatever you do and God Bless!

Hello Folks! With all that is happening around the Covid variants of delta and omicron, it can seem pretty daunting to be speaking about Happy Holidays and Happy New Years….it can sometimes feel draining to even think about being happy.

We both want you to know how much we care about you and your families. Our congregation, our classes, we have many we feel a love and responsibility for. There is an old saying that “many people make work light.” We believe the same may be said for sharing each others burdens in the more sad times, as well as celebrating the good and happy times.

This seemed to be the Christmas of small joys that periodically came our way, in between the feelings of estrangement from people, family and friends. Opening up a gift you weren’t expecting or a call from someone you haven’t heard from in a very long time can bring an upliftment of the heart. It is on the backs of these small joyous moments, we can put aside our overwhelming emotions of the season that are not so good.

With 2022 just five days away, let us not loose expectation and hope for a much better start to a good New Year. Look around your family and friends and see what you are truly grateful for. With the

Law of Attraction in our positive thoughts, our Guides to help us, with Spirit to heal us, if we only ask and trust, with the family and friends to speak with for comfort, may we head into the final days of 2021. May we all seek the positive of the New Year 2022 and know good thoughts are coming your way from us both…..God Bless each and every one of you!

(Our Church will be closed on January 2nd. Classes on the 6th will be cancelled as well. Call us for updates (204)802-1395 or (204)338-5505 as public health orders will change.)

Hello Folks! All the best of the season to you, your family and friends! There is nothing more special and magical than the child-like wonder of the Christmas Season. It is no mistake the upliftment of this time of year is enhanced by the winter solstice. Over the millenium this time brings about the new change of the season. From the 21st of December on, the days start to get longer and head towards the Spring Equinox.

Within Indigenous cultures world-wide the solstices and equinoxes are of paramount importance. Many religions look to the season changes as well to mark various festivals and religious services. These commemorations are held in different ways throughout the world and in many religions. Some lasting only a day, and others lasting a week and even a full calendar month. Jerusalem, is full of people from all over the world especially at this time of year. The three major religions Judaism, Christianity and Islam hold their religious seat in this magnificent city.

Bethlehem is paramount at Christmas time. Christians consider Bethlehem to be the birthplace of Jesus, the Nativity, and all the old stories and history surrounding this beautiful place. Just where does Spiritualism fit into all of this. Actually, Spiritualism is neither of the three religions so well ensconced in this area of the Middle East.

There is no doubt as to the importance placed upon Jesus within the Science, Religion and Philosophy of Spiritualism. We know Jesus was in human form on our Earth approximately two thousand years ago. Many historians who study this miracle worker believe he was actually born in the Spring time, co-ordinating with the spring lambs of the month of March.

Judaism and Islam believe Jesus to be a Prophet. One of significance and importance. Christians believe Jesus to be Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, coming into the world to save mankind from sin and hell. This very brief description does not go into the the intricacies of how the above religions view Jesus.

What we do know is Christianity was brought about by the Emperor Constantine through the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D. This is historical fact. It was brought about because of the religious upheaval at that time. There was a need to bring about control of the masses, to unite the country under one religion. Now there are many stories of how this came to be, which would fill a novel of its own.
So how does our Church, The Spiritualist Church of The Light view this remarkable figure of history Jesus of Nazareth? He came to the Earth Plane to prove the existence of life beyond death. He controlled The White Christ Light of God to perform the miracles he famous for. We do not consider him the only Son of God. Because of the God Spark within all of us, we are all sons and daughters of God. Jesus of Nazareth was an exemplar!

We believe Jesus was divine. We all have the spark of Divinity within all of us. There is a difference of degree but not of kind. He was and is the supreme Master of Spiritual Law. He was in close touch with the Spirit World and demonstrated his survival after his death. His teaching of equality, love, humility and service is the basis of Spiritualism, as we know today. He is the Universal Healer.

Spiritualists mainly agree on The Seven Principles, and we acknowledge these Seven Principles. The First Principle we acknowledge is “Infinite Spirit, Divine Creator of All That is.” The second “Unity and Equality of All.” Jesus spoke of both of these and the other Principles as well during his time on Earth. Of an Infinite Intelligence, not only perfect but all-powerful To picture God as a human being is to impose limitations.

Jesus of Nazareth gave us a glimpse into the Creator of All. His birth is to be heralded and acknowledged no matter when he was born. He showed us there is a divine relationship in which God is our “Creator” and we are all Creator’s children. Jesus taught how to fan the flame of the God Spark within to help us in our Spiritual development, sustaining and uplifting us. Jesus of Nazareth! A remarkable teacher indeed! God Bless you all at this very special time…..Amen!

Tuesday October 12th, 2021, Message from Reverend(s) Glenn and Heather

Hello Folks!  “Thanksgiving Weekend “ is now behind us and if you were someone who had a delicious dinner with your family or friends, leftovers now rule the day!  Our dinner involves family and friends, and today we are indeed eating the last of our turkey dinner.

It is interesting to see how many various ways, we as Canadians, and in particular Winnipeggers, adhere to customs surrounding the Thanksgiving holiday.  Turkey (of course) is usually the dinner of choice.  However, there are many other dinners that celebrate the Sunday or Monday holiday.  Saturday’s too…depending when most of the family or friends can get together.  In essence, it has been two years ago since a full-fledged turkey day has been celebrated by most folks.

For those whom don’t celebrate this day in any way, it doesn’t mean that the notion of Thanksgiving escapes you since the media places so much importance of getting together with family and/or friends.  For everyone….there is always a way to acknowledge what we have in our lives…something to be thankful for.  Maybe it is the ability to see this website message or hear the news, or taking in a walk or (now it is back) taking in a movie or show.

If you take a close look around you, just remember to be grateful for what you do have.  There have been times when we too have struggled in life.  When life seems hopeless, it is good to look around and see what you do have…and to be grateful for it.  Gratitude will bring you more to be grateful for!  We can attest to this, in a most profound way.  Never, ever give up, and you may be surprised at what will manifest in your life, if you only look, and have gratitude in your heart for what you have.  God richly bless and keep you!

Hello Folks and Great News! Finally after a year and a half of Covid measures, we are ready to go! Our first service will be on Sunday September 19th, at the usual time of 10:30 am at the West St. Paul Recreational Centre/Sunova Centre.

We look forward to seeing you, for the first time in a long time. Just to also inform you there are public health restrictions, which means to attend you must be double vaccinated with the two week wait time after your second vaccination. Masks must be worn and social distancing is mandatory.

Our one service we had in October complied with masking and social distancing, and it turned out to be just fine.

The mandate is for us to all be together again. The both of us realize the restrictions may not be popular with some, however as Reverends our first and foremost concern is the health and welfare of our congregation.

To those who are new, the West St. Paul/Sunova Centre is on 48 Holland Road, West St. Paul on the North Perimeter, between Main Street and McPhillips. Any questions please call us at (204) 390-6609.

July 4, 2021 – Message from Reverend(s) Glenn and Heather

Hello Folks! We hope today finds you doing better each day as we get closer and closer to seeing the end of restrictions for the pandemic.

Today, our neighbours to the south are celebrating “Independence Day”. It is the crux of everything America stands for since 1775. Their celebrations usually are over the top with all the American fanfare they are famous for.

We will be making an analogy of neighbours, whether a neighbour is a country to the south or on our street or next door to our province we call home.

Now as you know there are many times neighbours are so very necessary. If there is a disaster, like our flood in 1997, or a winter blizzard that catches everyone off guard…well it is nice to know you have a neighbour even if you don’t hang out much. They would be glad to know they can depend on you too.

Neighbours can have a huge span of differences. Our neighbours across the street are Muslim who escaped across the mountains of Afghanistan years and years ago. We have neighbours who are Dutch,Ukrainian, German, Polish, Irish, Scottish, Metis and English. I’m from the Maritimes, which sometimes seems like another country with their dialect differences and way of interpreting speech, and the huge distance to the Atlantic Ocean.

One thing that remains uniquely Canadian and is practiced by most, is the ability to get along. The ability to “live and let live” Thanks to festivals like Folklorama we get a chance to eat, drink, dance and be merry with cultures from all over the world all situated in Winnipeg! Fantastic!

Today is the last Website Message for the Summer and we both want to say, may you have a Summer season full of Health, Wealth and Happiness.

Remember our Principle Two how we acknowledge the Unity and Equality of All. Make the most of your moments and your day. Look for the positives, no matter how small. Remember you can contact us anytime at (204) 390-6609 or (204) 338-5505. May God Bless you and keep you until the Fall when we meet again!

Happy Fathers’s Day! To all Fathers and Father figures…..Grandpa’s Uncles, may you have a relaxing and pleasant day ahead of you!

Sometimes the Fathers in our lives are so very busy providing for their families, they may not have the daily knowledge of how much their hard work is appreciated.

Both of us know and understand, the wonderful Fathers of our families and those men in our lives, may at times be under evaluated. This day puts all that into perspective when we pay tribute and honour those wonderful men with breakfast in bed, gifts and a promise to do a few of the chores to lighten the load for him.

It is at this time when we want to “spoil” for the day, these great men, and we come to realize just how much a Father does for his family and Fathers Day highlights this. The light bulb comes on as we give the gifts or make the breakfast and see the smiling and happy face before us.

I knew a teacher who was a Father of two sons who needed special needs assistance. He talked about the love, work, and dedication it takes to be a Father, and he said he wouldn’t have it any other way.

When he comes home to those happy faces, it is all worth it. He also said, “To get respect, you first need to give respect.” These insightful words morph over into many other areas of life. A Father’s wisdom.

To those folks who have survived and flourished in spite of Fathers and not because of Fathers, just remember. You have two chances to make of yourself, the life you want, need and deserve. If this doesn’t happen in your childhood, you can use your adult life to drive towards what it is you need to celebrate the life you find fulfilling. Whatever it was that was a negative, turn it into a positive by learning from the mistakes you have seen.

Become the Father or Father Figure you know is the best, so as the years go by, your Fathers Day will have all the pomp and ceremony of smiling faces, and wee happy hearts, just for you!

May God Bless each and every wonderful man today, your day, Father’s Day!
