Sunday August 29th, 2021 Reverend(s) Glenn and Heather

Hello Folks and Great News! Finally after a year and a half of Covid measures, we are ready to go! Our first service will be on Sunday September 19th, at the usual time of 10:30 am at the West St. Paul Recreational Centre/Sunova Centre.

We look forward to seeing you, for the first time in a long time. Just to also inform you there are public health restrictions, which means to attend you must be double vaccinated with the two week wait time after your second vaccination. Masks must be worn and social distancing is mandatory.

Our one service we had in October complied with masking and social distancing, and it turned out to be just fine.

The mandate is for us to all be together again. The both of us realize the restrictions may not be popular with some, however as Reverends our first and foremost concern is the health and welfare of our congregation.

To those who are new, the West St. Paul/Sunova Centre is on 48 Holland Road, West St. Paul on the North Perimeter, between Main Street and McPhillips. Any questions please call us at (204) 390-6609.

July 4, 2021 – Message from Reverend(s) Glenn and Heather

Hello Folks! We hope today finds you doing better each day as we get closer and closer to seeing the end of restrictions for the pandemic.

Today, our neighbours to the south are celebrating “Independence Day”. It is the crux of everything America stands for since 1775. Their celebrations usually are over the top with all the American fanfare they are famous for.

We will be making an analogy of neighbours, whether a neighbour is a country to the south or on our street or next door to our province we call home.

Now as you know there are many times neighbours are so very necessary. If there is a disaster, like our flood in 1997, or a winter blizzard that catches everyone off guard…well it is nice to know you have a neighbour even if you don’t hang out much. They would be glad to know they can depend on you too.

Neighbours can have a huge span of differences. Our neighbours across the street are Muslim who escaped across the mountains of Afghanistan years and years ago. We have neighbours who are Dutch,Ukrainian, German, Polish, Irish, Scottish, Metis and English. I’m from the Maritimes, which sometimes seems like another country with their dialect differences and way of interpreting speech, and the huge distance to the Atlantic Ocean.

One thing that remains uniquely Canadian and is practiced by most, is the ability to get along. The ability to “live and let live” Thanks to festivals like Folklorama we get a chance to eat, drink, dance and be merry with cultures from all over the world all situated in Winnipeg! Fantastic!

Today is the last Website Message for the Summer and we both want to say, may you have a Summer season full of Health, Wealth and Happiness.

Remember our Principle Two how we acknowledge the Unity and Equality of All. Make the most of your moments and your day. Look for the positives, no matter how small. Remember you can contact us anytime at (204) 390-6609 or (204) 338-5505. May God Bless you and keep you until the Fall when we meet again!

Happy Fathers’s Day! To all Fathers and Father figures…..Grandpa’s Uncles, may you have a relaxing and pleasant day ahead of you!

Sometimes the Fathers in our lives are so very busy providing for their families, they may not have the daily knowledge of how much their hard work is appreciated.

Both of us know and understand, the wonderful Fathers of our families and those men in our lives, may at times be under evaluated. This day puts all that into perspective when we pay tribute and honour those wonderful men with breakfast in bed, gifts and a promise to do a few of the chores to lighten the load for him.

It is at this time when we want to “spoil” for the day, these great men, and we come to realize just how much a Father does for his family and Fathers Day highlights this. The light bulb comes on as we give the gifts or make the breakfast and see the smiling and happy face before us.

I knew a teacher who was a Father of two sons who needed special needs assistance. He talked about the love, work, and dedication it takes to be a Father, and he said he wouldn’t have it any other way.

When he comes home to those happy faces, it is all worth it. He also said, “To get respect, you first need to give respect.” These insightful words morph over into many other areas of life. A Father’s wisdom.

To those folks who have survived and flourished in spite of Fathers and not because of Fathers, just remember. You have two chances to make of yourself, the life you want, need and deserve. If this doesn’t happen in your childhood, you can use your adult life to drive towards what it is you need to celebrate the life you find fulfilling. Whatever it was that was a negative, turn it into a positive by learning from the mistakes you have seen.

Become the Father or Father Figure you know is the best, so as the years go by, your Fathers Day will have all the pomp and ceremony of smiling faces, and wee happy hearts, just for you!

May God Bless each and every wonderful man today, your day, Father’s Day!

Sunday June 6th, 2021 – Message from Reverend(s) Glenn and Heather

Hello Folks….we wish all of you a peaceful and relaxing Sunday. We had a Reverends Professional Day yesterday, and it was good to see other Reverends from across Canada. Zoom makes it easier to have virtual meetings and these meetings are so important to connect with other Reverends on an annual basis.

The main focus of our Professional Day was the topic of “Ethics”. It was very interesting to purview the questions posed to us by the President of the Spiritualist Church of Canada. It was also very interesting to see most Reverends feeling the same about the questions of Ethics we discussed.

Of course the devastating topic of the Residential School finding of 215 children came up. Some children, as young as three, were buried on the property of the Kamloops Residential School, was looked at. There was talking and discussion, concerns about other schools in Canada that may hold the same secrets kept from the Indigenous peoples and the public, for so many decades.

Looking back, years ago, in the United States, December 11th, just two weeks before Christmas, a young man went into a Kindergarten school and open fired on the children. This killing was not random. I was to do the “Talk” that Sunday and the question posed to Glenn and I as Reverends was, “Where was God in all of this?” These are pertinent questions that need to be asked and answered. I ended the “Talk” by saying Infinite Intelligence, Creator God, whose love is perfect, loving and powerful was with those children that morning.

For the 215 children whose lives were cut short because of the actions of adults put in charge over them, Creator God was with those innocent children, all of them; there is no doubt about this fact. As Spiritualists, the foundation of our Church is the belief of “Life after Life.” The children were welcomed into God’s Holy Spirit World, with a caring love that passes all understanding.

The question that will also come up is what happens to the perpetrators of such heinous crimes? When we die, we all will look at our book of life to see from birth to crossing, what our earthly life was and the decisions we have made. No one escapes this process. All humans will need to come to terms with what was done, the good and the not-so-good. How many times have you heard from people who have experienced NED’s (near death experiences), their lives flashed before their eyes!

Since each life is individual, each crossing individual, so are the after affects of what was done on the Earth Plane. There are many things that are also viewed, from brain disturbances and injuries, to personal, conscious decisions. Since we are all individuals, our viewing of our lives is also very individual. It is not up to us, as to what is the final result of this viewing will be.

Take a look at our Seven Principles! We acknowledge….

(1) Infinite Spirit, Divine Creator of All that is.

(2) Unity and Equality of All.

(3) Communication, Guidance and Healing from Spirit and Angels.

(4) Continuous Existence of the Soul and Its Personality.

(5) Personal responsibility for the Creation of Our Reality, through Thought, Word and Deed.

(6) Actions create results according to Natural Law.

(7) Eternal Progress open to Every Soul.

As you can see, these Principles will answer your questions, we are sure. As we say in our Opening Prayer, “All life is growth, so we judge not ourselves or others.” Infinite Spirit, Divine Creator of all that is, has these situations well in hand. We have the comfort of knowing we all have continuous existence. We have the comfort of knowing deeds done will be viewed by all, and those whose actions are deplorable will be viewed as well. Personal responsibility will be answered, and Eternal Progress will be open to every Soul. God Bless!

Sunday May 23rd, 2021 – Message from Reverend(s) Glenn and Heather

Hello Folks! We want to call our “Talk” today The Light At The End of The Tunnel. All of us world wide have been living with Covid-19 for a very long time. If we were to think ahead a year and a half, it would seem so very long in the future. Unless you have well laid out plans, large and small; a year and a half sometimes can’t be easily comprehended by most. So much can happen to change life when you look ahead like that. Anything is possible, not all plans work out, and most important of all is our undeniable gift of “choice”.

Life happens, and this past year and half has brought us a life we never could have thought of just a few years ago. Lives changed forever, families changed forever, jobs, careers, hopes and dreams all changed forever. Nobody would have thought this could happen….but it has. What now?

Where there is life, there is hope! There is a light at the end of this, a light at the end of the tunnel. What is in store for us at the end of this pandemic? Can life go back to normal? Serious questions for a serious time. As Reverends, we see folks and families with questions on their anxious faces. What now indeed.

Life definitely will go on and go forward. There is a Light at the end of this vast tunnel. Now is the time to reinvent yourself, check out your plans for the future, try something completely different, and now is the time for these thoughts to whirl around your noggin so as to have them flesh out in your life when you arrive at the end of the Covid tunnel.

New beginnings are always exciting! A new start feels refreshing! Pick up your head and see this light at the end. As we say (and more than once)…thoughts are things. It doesn’t matter how old you are, how young you are, what your situation in life is, a brand new day can bring you the reward of thinking just what it is that brings you joy, what brings you happiness, what brings you contentment.

For those whose lives have dramatically changed with the death of a loved one, a family fractured and ending, relationships strained and separation inevitable. That light at the end of the tunnel is still a light for you. Infinite Intelligence, Creator God, our Brother Jesus of Nazareth, the highest and the best Universal and Spiritual Teachers and Healers will always be there for you…..Always! Remember our Fourth Principal, Continuous Existence of the Soul and Its Personality. That light at the end of the tunnel, is life eternal. That light at the end of the tunnel is your new beginning. Make it happen as all life is growth. Life and Love are continuous , for all is God and Perfection! God Bless!

Sunday May 9th, 2021 “Mother’s Day” Message from Reverend(s) Glenn and Heather

Hello Folks! Happy Mother’s Day to all the great Mothers, Grandmothers, Nana’s, Kookum’s, Baba’s, Oma’s, Nonas, Nannies and caregivers! All the very best to you for a wonderful and hopefully relaxing day with your family and loved ones.

No one can deny the plethora of cards, flowers, chocolates and gifts of every sort that are available by happy retailers, when this day comes around. So many people wanting to honour their mothers and wives with gifts to show their love and appreciation for the women they are. As all folks know, it is the one day a year, set aside, to pay that extra attention to the women they love and respect.

With all these sentimental tributes, we remember those women who are crossed over into Spirit World, and love us still. Love, being the most positive emotion of all, never dies with the death of the body. You take that love with you. The powerful emotion of love can still be sent to those we have loved and just know it is reciprocated!

Not all maternal relationships are filled with positive emotions. There are strained relationships, and relationships that are non-existent. If this brings a sadness to your heart, or a longing for a relationship that may not happen, we want to show you a way on how to turn it around. Firstly, since “thoughts are things”….place in your mind a picture of her face in a beautiful picture frame….an oval picture frame, with a pretty pewter filigree around it. Place the sun behind her and a wonderful, joyful smile on her face. Next, send that off onto the ethers, let it go.

Two things will happen! Firstly, you will receive a healing for doing something very meaningful and positive. As it goes off, the weight will lift from your shoulders. It will be very freeing! The second thing that happens, is wherever she is she will get a positive feeling, a positive thought. Regardless of the outcome, a sad situation can be made better by doing this.

So folks! For all the wonderful Mothers in our lives, may the gift of love be sent to you on this very special Mother’s Day, no matter where you are! God Bless!

Sunday May 2nd, 2022 – Message from Reverend(s) Glenn and Heather

Hello Folks! May is here! Many years ago I worked with a teacher, ‘Mrs. Barnett’. She was an elderly woman getting ready to retire from teaching the little ones, and each year, she started out the first day of May with this little ditty. “Today is the first day of May, hooray! Lets dance in the garden today!” The lilt of the song…. was wonderful!”

Well, the weather and the underlying climate change has done little to bring us the spring flowers; and the happiness of that carefree song seems a bit foreign to all of us who have lived through the difficulties of the past year.
It would be so wonderful and freeing to run outside and hug friends and neighbours without the restrictions put into place to save us from a deadly virus. It would be so wonderful and freeing to dash through fields of flowers and enjoy a multitude of blooms that can uplift your emotions as high as the sky!

Lets take a moment and remember this is so temporary. Yes, spring feels later than usual; the reluctant, capricious, beautiful Manitoba spring weather feels like it is stalling, along with the life dealing changes of Covid-19 and its variants.

Good things lie in wait folks! Believe it, as it will come true. One day the weather will turn for the better and last longer than the short spurts we have lived with recently. The gardens will be planted, the grass fully green, our warm Manitoba sunshine (for which we are famously known) will suddenly beam down, and the restrictions will eventually, slowly be lifted as we together, do what is necessary to end the scourge of Covid.

When you begin to think that things won’t change. When you begin to think and feel you are stuck. When you begin to feel sour on life. When you begin to believe nothing will shift and with a sigh, feel tired or listless. When negative comes at you from all sides, remember some of the phrases we have spoken of in the past. Remember, we are thinking of you!

Remember, Spiritualism is a breath of fresh air! We have many wonderful and loving Spirit Guides! We have the highest and the best to help us…..Master Teachers, MasterHealers…. we have an Infinite Intelligence that can Heal us, physically, Spiritually and emotionally with the White Light of love. Remember to……
“Go forward, look upward and each day will find the sun before you and the clouds behind you.”

“Thoughts are things!”

“Think positive for all aspects of your life.”

“Positive thoughts are hundreds of times stronger than negative ones.”

“There is always a light at the end of a dark tunnel.”

“Never, never, never, ever give up!” ……God Bless!

Sunday April 18th, 2021 – Message from Reverend(s) Glenn and Heather

Hello Folks! Last Message we said “Spring is here”
now in West St. Paul/Winnipeg area, its snowing and blowing. It is such a back and forth effect with our Spring in Manitoba. You just don’t know what the morning will bring! Yesterday we were sitting on the deck having a great cup of tea and enjoying our beautiful blue Canadian sky. Today it’s hot coffee and Glenn shovelling off the deck. Hang in there folks, the warm spring winds and summer is coming!

This is the intro to our Message today. It is about “perseverance.” The third wave of Covid-19 and the variants that have followed, have now come upon us. It is a nerve- wracking experience for us all. There are some things in your life that feel like they are beyond your control. Weather, politics of other countries, the actions of people when driven by their emotions, the major banks of the world, well the list can expand from there. We are here to advise you that the great characteristic of “perseverance” can help immensely.
Author Lisa Nichols who co-wrote the book, “Chicken Soup for the African-American Soul” made this statement. She said, “It’s not your job to change the world, or the people around you. It’s your job to go with the flow inside of the Universe, and to celebrate it inside the world that exists”

This statement is very freeing! We also can add to that statement, our observation of the “perseverance” people summon when presented with hurdles of life. We say frequently, “never, ever, ever, give up!” Keep moving forward. Don’t give up on your hopes, your dreams, whatever it is you want to have to make your life enriched and full. Persevere!
Spiritualism and its Principles, it’s Acknowledgments have always persevered! Persevered over criticism by so many variants of politics, government, religions and people. The Spiritualism movement has always persevered, due to the truths of its roots. Spiritualism is the Science, Religion and Philosophy of Continuous Life.

My great-aunt Lottie sent me a letter when I was young and living in a hopeless situation. She said,”Go forward! Look upward! Each day will find you with the sun before you and the clouds behind you! This short verse was so uplifting just when I needed it most and now you have these wonderful words to use as your own. Persevere! Life can be all that you want it to be, it is your inherited right, your birthright, and you deserve it. Set your mind on the good side of life. Let go of your past, persevere towards the future! Warm spring weather and our incredible Manitoba summer are just around the corner. Covid will eventually lessen it grip on us all. Persevere! God Bless, all of you!

Sunday March 21st, 2021- Message from Reverend(s) Glenn and Heather

Hello Folks! Spring is here! Along with the much anticipated warmer weather, the anticipated vaccines are now underway. Both of us have appointments already starting with Glenn tomorrow. There are many people who are waiting for their turn, and there are many folks who are nervous about this with controversy over side affects and others have made a personal choice to not have the vaccine. Whatever your choice, just make sure it is the best one for you and your family.

Spiritualism has always been one of “self”. Not in a conceited way…just one of growth of your triangle of life; Spiritual, Physical and Emotional. Being complete with health, wealth and happiness, which according to all avatars of every culture and religion, is your birthright! Health is very obvious, and so is the Emotional part of your Triangle of Life. Wealth encompasses more than just the wealth of money. It is definitely a big part of it with many people striving for success. Wealth is having all these outer things, the home, the successful business, being debt free. Wealth however, includes to a “greater” degree, what people really want. That is the happiness of living a full and enriched life. Just remember Wealth is a mindset. It’s about appreciating everything we have. Remember all the kindness you/we have shown over time, to a people who are so starved in their Triangle of Life.

With the gift of Spring, lets do what my great Aunt Lottie said so many years ago. “Go forward, look upward, and you will find the sun before you and the clouds behind you.”
God Bless each and everyone of you!
