Hello Folks!

Hard to believe the 5th month of our year 2020 ends today. Heading into June tomorrow, gives the feeling this year is passing by at warp speed (with apologies to Captain Kirk) How fast time is passing….we will be out and about before you know it, physical distancing included of course.

We wanted to talk briefly about a short line from an obituary we read many years ago. The obit was of a gentleman who was a dearly loved Husband and Father, well loved by his family, and his friends. We don’t remember his name, as it was awhile ago. We don’t remember the particulars of the obit. However what we do remember was the love with which the family took to tell the world about this man who was so incredible in life. So what made this obit so different from all the others the Winnipeg Free Press has printed over the decades?

Many people have written over the years, about their loved ones who had left such a mark in their lives after their passing. Here’s the thing about this one. Just before the end of their tribute, they took a line from their Dad and told us what he had said. They said their Dad made it his mission for every family member to have:
“A place for everything, and everything in its place.” They said their Dad drove them crazy with this saying and this was said frequently. We had to laugh! How many times have our parents given us advice which we then laughed, rolled our eyes and went on with life. Remembering later on what our parents said as we grew wisdom. Funny tho’ that this one saying from their Dad had stuck with us, complete strangers at that! When we had a tendency to let things go, to be too tired to do anything else, we would say this line to each other and knuckle down to do the remaining task….at least we tried to make the effort.

Now with Covid and keeping us home bound; it was a good time to get a lot things in our home into better, more effective working order. The first rule of business was just this saying. Make a place for everything, then keep everything in its place. What a sense of accomplishment to finally achieve this. We often think of this man’s saying. Little does his family know what their beloved Dad said, has made a difference in the life of complete strangers. Stranger still, we have repeated this often to our own family and friends..

So what is it in the various areas of your lives, that you need to have a place for everything and everything in its place. So much can be read into this. Also what are some “gems” and sayings that have made a difference to you and have resonated with such upliftment, you have repeated it yourself to your family friends and neighbours alike. We need to remember that we don’t always have influence in people lives. They may not remember us, but they may remember our words and what we have said! God Bless!
